Jussara serves the Highland congregation as organist and choir director.  This is her ninth year of service where she leads the choir and congregation in hymns and directs the choir's anthem every Sunday.  The choir gathers for practice  on Wednesday evenings at 7:00 p.m. in the sanctuary and practices at 10:00 a.m. in the parlor on Sunday mornings before worship.

ADMINISTRATIVE ASSISTANT - POSITION OPEN/UNFILLED
POSITION DESCRIPTION
The Administrative Assistant position is very important to the operations of our church. This person will be one of the first persons
the public sees and talks to and is therefore a reflection of the church. This person should be familiar with general office skills and
dedicated to paying close attention to detail.
HOURS
 10 hours / week.
QUALIFICATIONS
 Higher education preferable, or high school graduate with work-related experience.
 Strong computer and organizational skills.
 Experience/familiarity with electronic file storage.
 Proficiency in the use of standard office tools.
 Good command of English composition, grammar and spelling.
 Ability to keep track of multiple incoming emails, social media updates, and weekly assigned tasks.
PURPOSE OF POSITION
The primary function of the Highland Administrative Assistant is to provide clerical, organizational and
communication support, acting as the primary point of contact for the church office. Responsibilities include
creating and printing Sunday bulletins, maintaining the membership database, and handling general office
logistics. The Highland Administrative Assistant reports directly to the Pastor.
JOB DUTIES
Daily
 Open, sort and distribute mail
 Check answering machine for messages and respond as appropriate.
 Answer telephone, answer questions or refer to proper person.
 Check e-mail and respond as appropriate.
 Keep calendar current.
 Take outgoing mail to nearest PO box.
Weekly
 Prepare Sunday bulletin with announcements and liturgist script from templates; mail copies of bulletins to
persons on shut-in list.
 Prepare weekly church newsletter from template and send to congregation via e-mail; create paper copies
and mail to those without e-mail.
 Promptly post content written by the Pastor, Elders, or Committee Chairs to Facebook, Instagram, and the
church website.
 Electronically update the church membership directory.
Monthly
 With Pastor, prepare and send Session Agenda and Document Packet.
Annually
 Prepare and print annual special reports as needed.
 Be sure palms are ordered for Palm Sunday.
As Needed
 Order office supplies, stamps, etc.
 Copy and reproduce letters and other materials for Pastor.
Other General Expectations
 Exhibit professionalism and a conscientious work ethic.
 Maintain confidentiality concerning financial records, counseling situations, personnel matters, health
matters, etc., of congregational members.
 Practice extreme attention to detail.
 Seek innovative ways to perform work.
 Be a self-starter, good at multi-tasking and prioritizing work.
 Possess strong administrative skills and the ability to work independently.
